Annual book trade event to return to NYC

Book Expo America (BEA) is on its way back to New York for four days next month, marking the premier event for book publishing in the United States.

There will be several different events taking place during the expo, including a Global Market Forum, BEA Bloggers, and the IDPP Digital Book and MIP conference. A session called ‘Book Con’ is expected to feature panel discussions, autograph sessions, and even quiz shows, although these are aimed at consumers rather than those in the trade.

Several author breakfasts will be held during the event, hosted by the likes of Alan Cumming, Neal Patrick Harris, and Jason Segel. They will be joined by such well-known writers as Lisa Scottoline and Colm Tobin. There is also set to be an APA Author Tea with Dick Cavett as one of the guests.

Exhibitors will also be on hand representing various book publishers, self-published authors, and book printing companies. The expo attracts enthusiasts to the city from all over the country, as well as international authors.

Book Expo America is taking place at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center from May 28 to 31. Attendance for the four days costs $119 for book buyers, $175 for publishing professionals, and $349 for those in the book industry. Admission to Book Con on May 31 is $30 for adults and $5 for children aged 6-12. A ‘superpass’ is available as well, covering every event during the expo and costing $995.
