Annual print competition to open next month

Submissions for the Printing Industries of America's (PIA) Premium Print Awards are opening in February, celebrating the best from graphic communications and printing companies.

A large number of categories are covered, including presentation folders, booklets, catalogs, business and annual reports, stationery and office materials, and finishing techniques. There are also a number of digital printing recognitions among the categories.

The leaders in each category are awarded with the Benny statue (representing Benjamin Franklin), and awards of recognition and certificates of merit will apply for runners-up as well. Winners will also receive a free ticket to the awards gala in Chicago on September 28, along with a self-promotion kit and an appearance in the Premier Print Awards Supplement, which is mailed to 10,000 print buyers.

As usual, there are expected to be a large number of submissions, especially with the extension of the digital printing category to eight sub-categories.

The deadline to apply will be April 18 for early bird entries, for which a discounted rate applies, or May 16 if they need a little longer. The judging weekend will be June 6 to 8 and winners will be notified at the end of June.

Application fees for early bird submissions are $87 for PIA members, $174 for non-members, and $20 for students. Regular fees are $99 for members, $198 for non-members, and $20 for students.
