Could U.S. Olympic Games bid see print surge?

With United States Olympic Committee having decided to put in a bid to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the good news may extend beyond those interested in sport, but also to those businesses that could be called upon to provides goods and services before, during, and after the games.

Print services can provide all the printed promotional materials that the Games need, plus a wealth of other supplementary items that make everything run smoothly. Printers can produce digital business cards for the officials involved, maps and informational packages for the athletes, and banners and signage for use during the games.

The spectators who come out to watch their favorite athletes take part will also provide a customer base for many different types of printed materials. Poster printing companies can create posters and other items, and people will likely also wish to purchase the likes of souvenir T-shirts, postcards, and pre-printed photos for the athletes to autograph.

All of these products can be sold not only to those who attend the games in person, but also to the many fans who tune in online or on television. They may also wish to have printed items that show support for their country’s sportsmen and women. A print company will also be able to provide these items to online shops and other retailers.

The Committee will choose one of four bids from Boston, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and San Francisco by September, and a decision on the host city will be made in 2017.
