Printing Industries of America celebrates 125 years

Printing Industries of America (PIA) is the largest association in the country for the graphic arts trades and is located in Sewickley, PA. With its mission "the advancement of the graphics communications industry worldwide," it also helps to advocate for graphics and printing companies with local, state, and federal governments.

To help improve the industry and to highlight advances in technology, PIA runs the Center for Technology and Research and the Center for Digital Printing Excellence while providing many other services to the printing and graphics industries. These include running educational and training programs, providing workshops at conferences, and holding regular webinars. It also sponsors several awards to those in the graphics and printing industries, including the Best Workplace in the Americas, the Feingold Awards, and the Premier Print Awards.

In addition, PIA has published a magazine since 2009, entitled ‘Printing Industries of America: the Magazine,’ which is just one of the many membership benefits. Through preparing several tutorials, such as the Green Guide for Graphic Communication, the association is helping to keep those in the industry informed on changing regulations.

The technology used in the printing and graphics industry is constantly changing and improving and Printing Industries of America is always up-to-date on it, while adding to that change itself through its centers.

Printing Industries of America will be celebrating its 125th anniversary this year at the Graph Expo 2012, which takes place from October 7 - 10. It will be presenting informational seminars at the conference and will also be giving away free promotional items featuring its new anniversary logo.
