Speed, Finishing and Dependable Konica Minolta = Minuteman Press Success

SELDEN, N.Y.--There are many ingredients in a recipe for success, from hard work to dependable employees. In the print production world, speed is one of those key ingredients that help turn around print jobs quickly and truly set a production house apart from its competitors.

The Minuteman Press franchise in Selden, NY, is a full-service digital print, design and marketing center helmed by Bill Passeggio. It has five employees – including a full-time pressman and graphic designer – and has been around for 13 years. It churns through at least a million sheets of paper per year. But to stay competitive, it needed faster digital machines – in black and white as well as color – with high-quality printing and problem-free bindery functions such as booklet finishing, including tight fold, saddle stitching and trimming.

It contacted four vendors, including Konica Minolta, and chose Konica Minolta, according to Passeggio, “because of its relationship with Minuteman Press, its pricing, quality output and dependable service.”

Minuteman Press of Selden began with the Konica Minolta bizhub® 920 about eight years ago to support its high-volume college jobs – like course outlines and PowerPoint presentations – for such institutions as Suffolk County College and Stony Brook University. Then, over the course of the past seven years, it purchased the bizhub® C6500, bizhub C7000, bizhub C8000 and bizhub C1085 in response to the growing demand for high-quality, low-cost digital printing.

“We were able to become extremely competitive in the marketplace due to our ability to rapidly turn around jobs with a quality product at reasonable prices,” Passeggio said.

“In the near future,” he added, “the lease on our C7000 is ending, and we’re planning on combining a new lease with a buyout of that machine and a new high-speed, black and white unit.”

“At the end of the day,” Passeggio said, “Konica Minolta has proven itself to be the most honorable and reliable company of its kind that I have ever dealt with during my printing career.”
