The pick of print awards in the U.S.

The graphics and printing industry hands out numerous awards every year; all of which are important in that they showcase the true talent and innovation existing in the sector, while also giving others something to work towards.

Several of the awards are given out by the Printing Industries of America (PIA) and cover a wide variety of aspects of graphics and printing companies.

Here are four of the most significant print-related awards:

• The Education Awards of Excellence recognizes educators and trainers involved in all segments of the printing industry. Those eligible can come from any country in the world, but must be able to show that they have made a significant contribution to training, and that they have shown leadership all along the way.

• The Lewis Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award, which is named after the founder of Graphic Arts Monthly, is handed out during the PIAs annual meeting. The winner must have made a major impact in the printing or graphic arts industry over a sustained period of time.

• The Emerging Leader Award is given by the Label Printing Industries of America (LPIA). Those who have been employed with a label printing company for less than 10 years and have shown themselves to be leaders in the field are eligible to win.

• The William D. Schaeffer Environmental Award is given to those who have gone above and beyond their position to ensure their company is environmentally friendly.

There are several more awards that encourage others to take a more active role in how their companies operate.
